Finding the best essential oils for headaches is something that our customers cite as being very important. With life as busy today as ever, headaches and migraines are commonplace. Here is an easy to follow guide to the best essential oils for those pesky headaches and how to put them firmly in check.
Why use Essential Oils For Headaches?
Staying hydrated, eating healthy meals and sticking to a regular sleep schedule can all help stop headaches naturally.
Sometimes, however, we need an extra little bit of help and essential oils have been proven to work in positively managing our minds and bodies.
Here are our top three essential oils to combat headaches.
Lavender is Best for Migraines
Lavender is the big hitter when it comes to banishing the worst type of headaches – migraines.
Inhaling lavender essential oil for 15 minutes helped relieve migraine pain more than a placebo, according to a 2012 study published in European Neurology.
We like to add a drop or two of lavender to a teaspoon of unscented face cream. Then massage this into the jaw, temples and forehead.
Chamomile is Best for Tension Headaches
A cup of chamomile tea is a great way to help relax after a long day. It, therefore, is no surprise that chamomile essential oil is just as soothing.
Chamomile has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties that can reduce pain, such as the pain from headaches.
From our testing, Chamomile is great for tension headaches.
Rose Oil is best for Dull Headaches
Rose essential oil is a great choice. It plays an important role in getting rid of a headache.
Rose oil can calm the nervous system, relieve headache symptoms and get you into a state of relaxtion.
There are many ways to use rose essential oils. You can choose to rub it on the back of your neck, temples or the forehead. At Aubrey Bay, we like to add some drops to a hot bath.
Aubrey Bay and the Magnificent Relax Essential Oil Blend
Although we can use these headache busting essential oils individually, a blend gives you a wider range of components that can work on a headache on a number of levels.
At Aubrey Bay, we have created the ‘Relax’ range which has all of the essential oils discussed in this post. They have been blended and weighted in just the perfect quantities to work on your headaches.
Add our Relax blend to a diffuser, burner, bath, pillow or make your own headache roller ball by adding a couple of drops a 10 ml roller ball and fill with a carrier oil (like sweet almond or grape seed).
We are sure that Aubrey Bay’s Relax will be your go to essential oil for headaches. If you’d like to give us a try, please do give us a shout on on social media and let us know all about it. We love to share and get involved with our customers!
